• (en anglais) PRIZES - Call for Nominations for the Equator Prize 2010. Deadline: 28 February
  The Equator Prize is awarded biennially by the UNDP Equator Initiative for outstanding local, indigenous and community efforts to reduce poverty through the conservation and sustainable use of biodiversity. Now in its fifth award cycle, the Equator Prize has special significance during the International Year of Biodiversity, 2010. The prize will be awarded to twenty-five local and indigenous communities from across the tropics; twenty will receive US$5,000 and a further five will be selected as “special recognition” winners and receive a total of US$20,000. “Special recognition” will be awarded in each region of prize eligibility (Africa, Asia and the Pacific, and Latin America and the Caribbean), one for indigenous peoples and applied traditional knowledge, and one for ecosystem-based adaptation to climate change. Equator Prize winners receive international recognition for their work and an opportunity to shape international policy and practice in the field. The winners are selected on the principal criteria of impact, partnerships, sustainability, innovation and transferability, leadership and community empowerment, as well as gender equality and social inclusion. Past winners have spanned fields of work ranging from agro-forestry to seed banks, agriculture to enterprise, indigenous and community-conserved areas to locally-managed marine areas, adaptation to climate change to organic farming, and more. All winners share the common feature of reconciling viable livelihoods with the maintenance of biological diversity and ecological balance. Nominations for the Equator Prize 2010 must be received by 28 February 2010. The UNDP Equator Initiative encourages nominating qualified community initiatives that are active in environmental conservation and sustainable livelihoods within the equatorial region. • BOURSES - Programme canadien de bourses de la Francophonie
  Le Canada a créé un « Programme canadien de bourses de la Francophonie » (PCBF) en 1986 afin de faire profiter à 37 pays membres de la Francophonie (admissibles à l’APD) des compétences qui existent dans les institutions canadiennes d’enseignement et de resserrer les liens de tous ordres avec ces pays, favorisant ainsi la promotion des valeurs canadiennes à l’étranger. Depuis 1987, plus de 1801 bourses ont été octroyées aux ressortissants des pays bénéficiaires de ce programme. Le PCBF vise à contribuer au développement durable des pays bénéficiaires en accordant la priorité à 1) la formation des formateurs dans le domaine de l’enseignement technique et professionnel, 2) l’amélioration des compétences des collèges et universités dans le domaine de l’enseignement et de la recherche et 3) l’accroissement des compétences et le renforcement des aptitudes par la formation des spécialistes et des gestionnaires dans le secteur public et le secteur privé.

• BOURSES - Lancement du programme Horizons francophones : l’« Erasmus » d’excellence pour la Francophonie
  Devant un parterre composé de partenaires institutionnels et de représentants universitaires africains, l’Agence universitaire de la francophonie a lancé officiellement, jeudi 10 décembre à Dakar, son nouveau programme baptisé « Horizons francophones ». En présence du vice-recteur aux programmes de l’Agence, M. Abderrahmane Lellou, des directeurs du Bureau Afrique de l’Ouest et du Bureau Afrique centrale, M. Emile Tanawa et M. Jean-Gratien Zanouvi, cette cérémonie inaugurale a permis de présenter les objectifs de ce programme visant le renforcement des capacités scientifiques dans les pays du sud.

• OFFRES D'EMPLOI - ICCROM: Avis de vacance du poste - Chercheur en Conservation-Restauration. Date limite : 5 mars 2010
  L’ICCROM est une organisation intergouvernementale, créée par l’UNESCO en 1956, avec pour mandat d’élever le niveau de la conservation-restauration du patrimoine culturel dans le monde entier. Il compte actuellement 127 Etats membres. Une des fonctions statutaires de l’ICCROM est de coordonner et stimuler la recherche, et fournir des conseils techniques et scientifiques en matière de conservation. Dans cette optique, l’ICCROM fait appel à un réseau d’instituts et de laboratoires de recherche auprès de ses Etats membres et s’appuie sur les ressources de sa bibliothèque spécialisée pour stimuler, recueillir et diffuser les nouvelles concernant la recherche en matière de conservation. Le titulaire aidera donc à la coordination de cette fonction, utilisant les canaux de diffusion existants et en développant de nouveaux. Il/elle contribuera aux programmes de formation et d’éducation de l’ICCROM, soutenus par un laboratoire et une bibliothèque in situ; il/elle donnera des conseils de nature scientifique et technique sur la conservation à la demande des Etats membres. Il/elle travaillera en étroite collaboration avec le personnel professionnel de l’ICCROM et répondra à un des Directeurs d’Unité.

  • Au Pair of the Year Award
    Each year at the conference, the International Au Pair Association (IAPA) presents its Au Pair of the Year Award. The award goes to an au pair that embodies the spirit of cultural exchange. The winner is selected from hundreds of nominations submitted by host families from around the world who have had their lives transformed by the placement of an au pair from one of IAPA’s many member agencies. Judged by a panel of IAPA representatives, winners over the past years have included as many young men as women. This year’s ceremony will take place on Wednesday, 17 March.
  • WYSE Work Abroad Partnership of the Year Award
    Face-to-face meetings and the ability to forge long-term business relationships are a key benefit of the WETM-IAC conference, and essential to the success of organisations placing young people in work abroad programmes worldwide. Recognising this, the WYSE Work Abroad Association will present for the first time at this year’s conference its new Partnership of the Year Award.

• Are mangroves unwanted weeds "gorse of the sea" or are they beautiful trees that attract native birds?
• Who was Mr Stellin? And why did they name the park we play in after him?
• What games did our grandparents play? How did they live?

These are the questions that children in three New Zealand schools asked themselves earlier this year and their online research projects have seen them each honoured with a LIving Heritage Award. Junior historians from: Hauraki Primary School on Auckland's North Shore; Northland Primary School in Wellington; and Mahana Rural School just outside Nelson have each been honoured with LIving Heritage Awards this week. Living Heritage Awards celebrate NZ’s heritage and treasures by recognising that living or intangible heritage provides people with a sense of identity and community. Helping young people to learn from their past is a key way to help prepare them for the future. The New Zealand National Commission for UNESCO helped establish the Living Heritage Taonga Tuku Iho Awards to celebrate schools whose work contributes to UNESCO objectives by capturing heritage resources for future generations.

• PRIX - Prix Erasmus pour Europeana
  Europeana vient de recevoir le Prix ERASMUS pour la Connexion de l'Europe en Réseau, une distinction qui reconnaît les projets des médias qui aident à unifier l'Europe. Le prix a été présenté en octobre, lors d’une cérémonie à la Mairie de Vienne. Il a été présenté en octobre par la Société européenne pour l'éducation et la communication. Membre du jury, le professeur Joan Hemels de l'Université d'Amsterdam a accordé le prix en disant : « Le chemin pour un espace culturel intégré européen a été raccourci grâce à Europeana - une réalisation exceptionnelle dans la mise en place de passerelles entre les cultures européennes ».

  Le Secrétariat international de l'ICOMOS et son Centre de Documentation sont situés à Paris (France). Le Centre de Documentation est spécialisé dans le patrimoine architectural et archéologique, dans la conservation, restauration et gestion des monuments et des sites historiques. Ses collections incluent environ 30.000 monographies et 600 périodiques (dont 200 courants). Il contient aussi tous les dossiers originaux de propositions d'inscription de biens culturels inscrits sur la Liste du Patrimoine Mondial de l'UNESCO. Il est ouvert aux membres de l'ICOMOS et au public. En 2012, l'ICOMOS déménagera dans de nouveaux locaux à Charenton (Paris) avec la Médiathèque de l'Architecture et du Patrimoine de France.
