| The objective of this sub-regional meeting is to facilitate the
participation of Pacific Members States in UNESCO’s activities
related to living heritage, in particular through the 2003 Convention
for the Safeguarding on the Intangible Cultural Heritage. Updated
information is provided on activities carried out at the international
level for safeguarding intangible heritage and on the potential
benefits of this Convention for Pacific States.
Discussion sessions focus on:
- Safeguarding activities in the Pacific
- Assessment of problems and needs
- Good practices and possible solutions
The meeting is organized by UNESCO and the 40 participants include
representatives from 17 Member States and experts from all Pacific
States and other island territories.
