| Summary: |
The course on architectural records, inventories and information
systems for conservation (ARIS07) began in Rome on 12 September.
It is organized jointly by ICCROM and the Getty Conservation Institute,
Los Angeles (GCI).
Sixteen mid-career conservation professionals and educators, all
from different countries, are participating.
The course goal is to improve conservation decisions through better
information. Specific objectives include understanding emerging
technologies, organizing data for easy access and use, and applying
the most appropriate form of recording for conservation. Topics
covered include digital imaging and lighting, thermal imaging, photogrammetry,
data management, laser scanning, geographic information systems,
inventory principles, and dissemination tools.
Conservators will be closely associated with the course and will
discuss how the resulting material may be incorporated into the
conservation process.
The course is being held at ICCROM, with field work at the nearby
church of Santa Cecilia. The course participants will be recording
and documenting wall paintings, sculptural tombs and vaults.
Member States represented: Azerbaijan, Barbados,

---------------------------
Getty Conservation Institute (GCI). Le prochain cours aura lieu
en 2007.
