In celebration of the 20th Anniversary of the Zora Neale Hurston
Festival of the Arts and Humanities (ZORA! Festival), the event’s
presenter, the Association to Preserve the Eatonville Community
in collaboration with the Department of Tourism, Events, and Attractions,
of the University of Central Florida’s Rosen College of Hospitality
Management announces the “New Heritage Tourism: Global Perspectives”
Conference. The conference will be held January 22-24, 2009 in Orlando,
Florida, USA.
Poster and research paper presentation abstracts by both academic
researchers and practitioners are welcome. The Conference will focus
on the issues and challenges, successes and opportunities of the
African Diaspora, Native American, Hispanic, and Asian heritage
tourism.
- Abstracts are requested for research paper presentations and
for poster presentations. Abstracts under the following themes
are encouraged, but all submissions will be given full consideration.
Abstracts are due by September 15, 2008.
o Trends in African Diaspora, Native American, Hispanic,
or Asian Heritage Tourism
o Global Issues in Heritage Tourism
o Diaspora Challenges
o Role of International Heritage Tourism in Community and
Economic Development
o Financing the Celebration of Heritage – Best Practices
o Diversity Issues in International Heritage Tourism
o A Role for Heritage Tourism in Less Developed Nations
o Policy Issues in International Heritage Tourism
o The Youth and the Challenge of Heritage Celebration
Where possible, submissions are requested to emphasize actionable
results, theoretical and conceptual approaches to International
Heritage Tourism. All abstracts for research papers and poster papers
will be blind reviewed. Once accepted, research paper presenters
are required to submit a full paper for publication in the conference
proceedings. Awards will be given for the best research paper and
best poster paper, and will be presented to the recipients at the
conference. The best poster award is based on the poster displayed
at the conference; the best paper award is based on the proceedings
paper.
ALL Abstracts must be submitted no later than September
15, 2008. Notification of final acceptance will
be emailed to the submitter no later than October 15, 2008.
