Forum UNESCO-University and Heritage (FUUH) is an UNESCO Project for undertaking activities to protect and safeguard the cultural and natural heritage, through an informal networkof higher education institutions. FUUH is under the joint responsibility of the UNESCO World Heritage Centre and the Polytechnic University of Valencia (UPV), Spain. Summary: This conference is aimed at exploring an effective long-term mechanism for the conservation of World Natural Heritage, and promoting the harmonious co-existence of man and nature through cooperation and the exchange of management experiences among local authorities and site managers in Asia and the Pacific region.

The conference takes place at the Mount E’mei World Heritage site in Sichuan Province (China), and includes representatives from national and local authorities (including World Heritage site managers) from more than 30 Asia-Pacific States Parties with World Natural Heritage properties located on their territories. Representatives from UNESCO, the World Conservation Union (IUCN) and the Conservation International (CI) will also attend.

A Mount E’mei Declaration on World Natural Heritage Sustainable Conservation and Development is expected to be adopted at the meeting.

The conference follows the first and second sessions that were held in Kagoshima and Shirakami-Sanchi, Japan in 2000 and 2005 respectively.
