Forum UNESCO-University and Heritage (FUUH) is an UNESCO Project for undertaking activities to protect and safeguard the cultural and natural heritage, through an informal networkof higher education institutions. FUUH is under the joint responsibility of the UNESCO World Heritage Centre and the Polytechnic University of Valencia (UPV), Spain. This internet website is not an official site of UNESCO but a website created and managed by the UPV within the framework of the project FUUH.

Summary:

The Master Plan for the integral rehabilitation of Old Havana, assigned to the Office of the Historian of the City of Havana, is pleased to announce the 6th International meeting on Management of Historical Centers considered a space of a singular and necessary reflection for those of us who have undertaken the challenge to rehabilitate Historical Centers. This year the Historical Center of Havana City will celebrate the 25 anniversary of being declared UNESCO’s Cultural Heritage of the Humanity and the sixth encounter will be dedicated to this anniversary. The event includes in this edition the endorsement of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (COSUDE), the Development Program of the United Nations (PNUD) and UNESCO, among other agencies that show again their willingness to be an active part of this space of thought with clear integrating samples for the region.

The event will last three days and its dynamics will be developed from the presentation, the first day, of a series of lectures followed by a panel of discussion in plenary. In the following days two thematic workshops will be carried out in parallel: Determination of the hard nuclei that allow ¨producing¨ the transference of successful experiences to other contexts and the evaluation of the capacity of transfere of at least two regional experiences considered successful at a regional and international scale.

In the preceding week, from 26 to 30 November, a pre-event course will take place, where the following topics will be approached: Preparation of a Urban Diagnosis previous to the formulation of an Integral Urban Plan, the performance of urban marketing to foster actions in favor of urban development, Presentation of the Management Model of OHCH, Analysis of the Tourist behavior in urban sites declared as heritage.
