Nearly 300 mayors and representatives to the French-speaking
cities and their associations will meet in Hué, in Vietnam,
from October 24 to 26 to attend the 27th General meeting of the
International association of French-speaking Mayors. This year the
set of themes chosen for the two days of presentations and debates
is "Cities, heritage and local development", topic already
approached by the CFU in Yaounde during the Africités Summit
in 2003 and later on in Nairobi in 2006.
Mrs. Isabelle Longuet, Secretary-General of the CFU for France,
will go to the site to present the work carried out by the World
Heritage Center and the CFU on this subject.
The handbook "cultural heritage and local development. Guide
to the attention of the African local communities "will be
also distributed during the meeting.
