In accordance with Article 8.1 of the World Heritage Convention,
the General Assembly of States Parties to the Convention meets during
the ordinary session of the UNESCO General Conference. The 34th
session of the General Conference will convene from 16 October to
3 November.
During its session (24 and 25 October), the General Assembly:
- discusses strategic issues relating to World Heritage;
- determines the uniform percentage of contributions to the World
Heritage Fund applicable to all States Parties; and
- elects new members to the World Heritage Committee to replace
outgoing members.
The World Heritage Committee will present a report on its activities
to both the General Assembly and the UNESCO General Conference.
