In the United Nations Conference of the Millenium in 2000, 189
heads of State decided to work together to cooperate in the construction
of a better world. For this purpose, they signed the Declaration
of the Millenium and established 8 objectives called Objective of
Millenium Development (ODM). Meeting these objectives is a task
that requires of the intersectorial and intergenerational work.
Therefore Cartagena de Indias, Colombia will gather young people,
non-governmental organizations, scholars, academic institutions,
state bodies and agencies of international co -operation to provide
visibility to the advances in the implementation of the Millenium
Goals in Latin America.
Objectives
• To facilitate the reflection, the dialogue and the exchange
between young people, experts, public and private entities around
the goals of the millennium, environmental sustainability and youth
in Latin America.
• To promote the participation of the young people as strategic
participants in the development so that they actively exert they
citizenship in a responsible way.
• To stimulate actions and co-operation between the different
institutional, social and international participants towards the
implementation of the objectives of the Millenium.
