Heritage and sustainable development are two areas of the sociocultural
framework in which stakeholders are connected with their natural
and symbolic medium, which require of special attention and future
vision.
Society and nature need to evolve from their heritage, to understand
their environment, to reinforce their identity and to project their
objectives. Therefore, development must be based on the concept
of sustainable heritage.
The evolution of society and nature from their heritage is a topic
that has been approached only partially until today: from the point
of view sustainable development or from heritage conservation.
With these premises, the 1st International Congress on Heritage
and Sustainable Development is aimed at linking both concepts upon
constituting a space for the reflection and discussion that allows
us to explore, harmonize and create on productions and creations
from a interdisciplinary comparative perspective in order to draft
a declaration. This declaration should have as starting point the
development and conservation of the cultural, natural and immaterial
resources which favor a sustainable development including approaches
of valuation in the past and present, achieve an agreement of principles
and action lines and, guide us to a sustainable future.
