| Summary: |
Realizing this project, the creators of Solovetsky Maritime Museum
have had both positive and negative experience of interacting with
state museums and other state institutions, making arrangements for
functioning of public museum, keeping documentation etc. We are sure
that our colleagues in Russia and other countries have their own experience
in solving problems of a similar nature. One of the main aims of the
Workshop is to identify the problems we all face and have to solve,
to share our experience, and to join our efforts in searching for
the most effective solutions. Special attention will be paid to possible
ways of cooperation between state and public museums and to questions
of legislation concerning public museums.
Another aim of the Workshop is to establish ties between maritime
museums in Russia and abroad. The Workshop grants to its participants
a unique opportunity to discuss these quite specific problems in
an interested and congenial auditory. Information about scientific,
cultural and educational activity, about specialization on these
or those aspects of northern seafaring in each museum is of common
interest and valuable for all of us. It will be useful to discuss
possible ways of collaboration: exhibit exchange, joint actions
for attracting public attention, expeditions, conferences, foundation
of an association of maritime museums of Northern Europe, etc.
There are topics which are supposed to be discussed:
1. Experience and perspectives of maritime museums in Russian North
and Northern Europe.
1.1. Legal forms of existence of maritime museums.
1.2. Organizational structure, system of management, documentation
in maritime museums.
2. Arctic seafaring and wooden shipbuilding.
3. Solovetsky Monastery in seafaring at the White Sea.
