| Summary: |
Keynote presentations on Friday November 16 will be held at the
Muséum d'Histoire Naturelle (15:00-19:30) and will be devoted
to the topics of volcanic and seismic risks (and their management),
major alpine landslides, the meteorological consequences of long-term
climate change, and the causes of Phanerozoic mass extinctions.
The scientific symposia on Saturday November 17, hold in the UniMail
building, will focus on diverse domains of geoscience research -
from the present-day hydro- and cryosphere to climate modeling and
paleoenvironment reconstruction, study of magmatic processes from
the deep lithosphere to their hazardous expression at the surface,
the exploitation of natural resources for energy production, and
social aspects of natural hazard mitigation.
The Swiss Geoscience Meeting wants to offer the ideal environment
to foster contacts and discussion between scientists: Such opportunities
will occur at the Swiss Geoscience Party on Friday (20:00-22:00)
in the Muséum, or during the poster session on Saturday in
the main hall of UniMail, where coffee and tea will be available,
and lunch will be served. Special time slots will be allocated to
two poster sessions, at which the authors will be present. |
