Forum UNESCO-University and Heritage (FUUH) is an UNESCO Project for undertaking activities to protect and safeguard the cultural and natural heritage, through an informal networkof higher education institutions. FUUH is under the joint responsibility of the UNESCO World Heritage Centre and the Polytechnic University of Valencia (UPV), Spain. Introduction and aim of the course

The use of geographic information systems (GIS) and Multicriteria Analysis (MCA) techniques is introduced for the development of spatial decision support systems for environmental tourism development through quantitative assessment of tourism potential related to climate, morphology, cultural and natural landscape resources.
Lectures, PC-based exercises and field trips to significant environmental tourism experiences, social activities aimed at informal exchange of experiences convey practical skills on the topic, in a strongly interactive environment.

  • GIS analysis (landscape visual assessment, landscape suitability analysis for tourism, cost distance, accessibility, optimal path analysis)
