Summary:

What is "living Geology"?
Living geology is a number of events and activities related to geology

The first edition of Living Geology will take place during June 1 and 2, 2007 in different places all over Switzerland (see map). This initiative starts the celebrations of the international year of planet Earth that will reach its culminating point in 2008.

Within the framework of Living Geology, geologists from different sectors (geologic organizations, Universities, private companies, industry, museums, administrations) are committed to transmit their passion for geology to the public by means of informative and recreational events.

Thus, a wide range of public will have the occasion to find out about the influence of geology in our daily life and to confirm to what extent the geologist's work contributes to our high quality of life.

After the event, all the participants, whether organizers or participants will receive the card swisstopo "living Geology" that will also serve as flyer for the next edition of Living Geology during June 4 and 5 2010.

Living geology is organized by an association and it will be held every 3 years during one Friday and one Saturday between Easter and the summer holidays.
