Forum UNESCO-University and Heritage (FUUH) is an UNESCO Project for undertaking activities to protect and safeguard the cultural and natural heritage, through an informal networkof higher education institutions. FUUH is under the joint responsibility of the UNESCO World Heritage Centre and the Polytechnic University of Valencia (UPV), Spain. This internet website is not an official site of UNESCO but a website created and managed by the UPV within the framework of the project FUUH.

Summary:

The Latrobe Chapter, Society of Architectural Historians is the metropolitan Washington affiliate of the Society of Architectural Historians. Membership is open to anyone interestedin the field of architectural history. Founded in 1967, the Latrobe Chapter was named after the prominent early Washington architect, Benjamin Henry Latrobe. Over the years, the chapter has sponsored conferences, scholarly symposia, and tours, as well as lecture series on architectural history, historic preservation, design, and related fields.

School of Architecture, Planning, & Preservation, University of Maryland, College Park offers undergraduate programs in architecture and graduate programs in architecture, urban studies, and historic preservation. www.arch.umd.edu

The D.C. Preservation League is the city-wide nonprofit whose mission is to preserve, protect, and enhance the historic built environment of Washington, D.C. through advocacy and education.

Transportation in all its various modes has had a broad impact on the built environment of the Washington region. This symposium will look at: some of the engineering and architecture that facilitated the movement of goods and people, development that was influenced by a relationship to transportation, and the effect of government policies on transportation related projects.
