The UNESCO’s International Hydrological Programme (IHP) programme for Water and Development Information for Arid Lands - A Global Network (G-WADI), in collaboration with the Cold and Arid Regions Environmental and Engineering Research Institute of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAREERI/CAS), is organizing a training workshop dealing with groundwater modelling in arid and semi-arid areas.

Groundwater is a major water resource in arid regions. A better understanding of groundwater dynamics through the proper use of groundwater modelling tools will help people to manage precious water resources in watersheds of arid areas. The topics of this workshop include, the application of stochastic groundwater modelling in arid areas, isotope techniques in groundwater research in arid areas, and the interaction of surface water and groundwater and the modelling in arid areas.
