| Summary: |
These workshops are designed to disseminate information on the Convention
on the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions
(2005), promote its ratification, and enhance its potential as a tool
to strengthen Central American cultural policies. This action
is particularly led in regard to one of the main concerns of the
international community: the future of cultural diversity in our
increasingly globalized world.UNESCO, HIVOS, AVINA Foundation, the
Canadian embassies in Costa Rica and Guatemala and the French Centre
for Scientific and Cultural Cooperation in Central America are sponsoring
the mission of a Canadian expert, Véronique Guèvremont
to:
- Costa Rica (27/3),
- Nicaragua (28/3),
- Honduras (29/3)
- Guatemala (30/3).
A public seminar, as well as a meeting with the institutional authorities
and civil servants will be organized in each country. The mission
and the follow-up Internet strategy involving key public and private
Central American actors are expected to lead to constructive exchanges
of views on this issue.
This initiative of the Canadian and French embassies is organized
in conjunction with the Francophone Week celebrations that will
take place in March.
