Forum UNESCO-University and Heritage (FUUH) is an UNESCO Project for undertaking activities to protect and safeguard the cultural and natural heritage, through an informal networkof higher education institutions. FUUH is under the joint responsibility of the UNESCO World Heritage Centre and the Polytechnic University of Valencia (UPV), Spain. This internet website is not an official site of UNESCO but a website created and managed by the UPV within the framework of the project FUUH.

The International Network for Traditional Building, Architecture & Urbanism (INTBAU) has launched the Call for Papers for one of its major events in 2007 - History, Heritage & Regeneration: The future for traditional architecture in Eastern Europe.

The event will take place from 23 - 25 September in the city of Sibiu, Romania, which serves as the Cultural Capital of Europe for 2007. The conference aims to examine the challenges faced by the emerging economies of the former Eastern bloc in the field of heritage and preservation of traditional places.

We are inviting academics and practitioners from around the world to submit papers on the following topics:

  • Heritage & Urban Planning behind the "Iron Curtain"
  • The Impact of Globalised Interventions on Traditional Environment
  • Protected Areas & Pattern Books
  • Traditional Academic Education
  • EU Programmes on Heritage

The deadline for submissions is 15 May 2007.

Acceptance will be notified on 15 June 2007.
