Forum UNESCO-University and Heritage (FUUH) is an UNESCO Project for undertaking activities to protect and safeguard the cultural and natural heritage, through an informal networkof higher education institutions. FUUH is under the joint responsibility of the UNESCO World Heritage Centre and the Polytechnic University of Valencia (UPV), Spain. This internet website is not an official site of UNESCO but a website created and managed by the UPV within the framework of the project FUUH.

Summary:

A workshop gathering a multidisciplinary team of international and Egyptian experts has been invited to study the feasibility of Alexandria Underwater Museum.

This meeting will be divided into four sessions devoted to the following topics:

  • underwater archaeology,
  • architecture of submarine constructions,
  • environmental conditions,
  • socio-economic and urban impact.

Before the beginning of the workshop, participants will undertake field visits and listen to a presentation by the Egyptian authorities on the current situation and recent activities undertaken in the Bay of Alexandria.
