ABSTRACT

We have witnessed the big changes of the city, both in the natural urban landscape and the historic urban landscape. The historic urban landscape bore testimony to diverse facts of the cities history. It was significant to protect the historic urban landscape. This article, from the principles of authenticity and integrity of the world heritage, articulated the existing problems in conserving the historic urban landscape. And the main problem is. This was the research aim of this article. Initially, it selected the city of Nanjing and Ping Yao in China, compared them from the historic context and the urban landscape planning, and found their separated problems. Next, it analyzed the dynamic changes of the historic urban landscape. Finally, it presented that the heritage of historic context and urban landscape planning were necessary to protect the historic urban landscape.
